Miss Kim Taggart

Yaama Everyone,

Last week, on the 26th of May, we celebrated National Sorry Day.  On this day we acknowledge the strength of Stolen Generations Survivors and reflect on how we can all play a part in the healing process for our people and nation. While this date carries great significance for the Stolen Generations and other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, it is also commemorated by Australians all around the country.

National Reconciliation Week – 27 May to 3 June – is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

This year's theme is Be a Voice for Generations. The theme encourages all Australians to be a voice for reconciliation in tangible ways in our everyday lives - where we live, work and socialise. Students will discuss and engage in National Reconciliation Week activities in cultural groups this week.

Our First Nations Students completed a colouring in for Reconciliation week. Their artwork will be displayed at the Tamworth Gallery alongside many other participating schools.
