Principals' Message

Principals' Meeting

This Thursday and Friday we will be joining all of the Principals of the Armidale Diocese in Armidale at the first Principal's Meeting for 2022. We are looking forward to working with the Catholic Schools Office and our fellow Principals throughout the year.

Leadership Mass

Finally, we look forward to celebrating the start of our new school year as a Catholic Community with our Opening School Mass/Leadership Mass, tomorrow, Tuesday 1st March at 12.00pm at St Patrick's Church. We look forward to sharing this special event with our Year 6 parents and carers. Please see more details in the Religious Education section of this Newsletter.

Enrolling Now

We have begun our enrolment period for 2023.  If you have a child who is ready for Kindergarten in 2023, please contact the school office for an enrolment form.

Student, Parent & Teacher - 'Meet & Greet'

As mentioned in the last newsletter, we are unable to hold the Term 1 Student/Parent/Teacher Meet & Greet sessions for Years 1-6.  However, your child has been working with his/her teachers to reflect on their learning and develop initial goals for the year.  The goal setting sheets are being sent home today. We value your involvement in your child's learning and encourage you to discuss the goals with him/her. Please complete the optional blue section of the form, sign and send back to school by Friday, 4th March.

Kindergarten teachers, Mrs Ellie Sampson and Mrs Cindy Cuthbertson, made phone contact with all Kindergarten parents last Friday, 18th February, to discuss the Kindergarten Best Start Assessment results.  This assessment checks early literacy and numeracy skills and Miss Sampson and Mrs Cuthbertson are using the results to guide learning according to student need.  We are disappointed that we couldn't have parents/carers on site for the meetings but are excited by today's easing of restrictions and welcoming our parent community back into our beautiful school. We are really looking forward to continuing to work closely with our families in 2022.

COVID Update

Please find a letter from Mr Chris Smyth, Director of Schools for the Armidale Diocese, attached below.  This letter was also sent out to families via Compass last week.  It outlines the updated COVID-19 guidelines to be implemented from today, 28th February.  It is wonderful to see we will have a taste of normal school life since the pandemic began.

In summary:

From today, Monday 28th February:

  • Cohorting requirements and activity restrictions will be relaxed
  • More visitors will be allowed onto school grounds
  • Schools will be able to resume assemblies and school camps
  • Mask requirements for high school staff and students will be lifted

From Monday 7th of March:

  • Mask requirements for primary school staff and students will be lifted

May God bless you and your family,

Maree Holland & Greg O'Toole
