It has been an absolute joy welcoming returning and new students to school for 2022!  Our school is abuzz with excited children and staff about being together for learning.

At the beginning of each year, our staff support students to settle into their new classes and as a result our classrooms are already caring, calm learning environments.  Our teaching of The Tally Way, our whole-school approach to wellbeing, positive behaviour and caring school culture, has commenced.  The Tally Way is synonymous with all positive attitudes and actions, and I have been thrilled to see our students showing The Tally Way in the playground and their classrooms.

We are closely monitoring communication about the COVID safety requirements and look forward to welcoming all parents and carers into our school grounds again as soon as it is possible.  Thank you very much to our school community for your support, understanding and cooperation with the required COVID safety measures.

Communication

We ask that all parents and carers join Class Dojo please, if they haven’t already done so. This is important because Class Dojo is our main communication platform to families and where they can read essential school and class messages.

If you require an invitation, please email your child’s teacher (email addresses are on our website) or call the office to leave a message (55 685 222).

Curriculum Information

We keep parents and carers well-informed about what is being taught each term to support our valuable home-school partnership.  In Term 1, we release Curriculum Information videos that provide important information about topics such as the teaching program, homework and communication.  This format will allow you to view the information at a time that is convenient to you.  Each term, we also provide a curriculum overview for each year level outlining focus learning and assessment.  These are released via Class Dojo.

Interviews

Parents and carers are invited to have interviews with teachers in Term 1 and Term 3. Written reports are provided in Term 2 and Term 4.  We have scheduled interviews for the last two weeks of this term in order to increase the chance of being able to invite parents/carers to meet face-to-face (as the current Back to School plan (7 February – 4 March) limits adult access to schools.  We want teachers and parents/carers to be able to meet in person if possible according the Qld Government COVID safety requirements.

We will provide more information to families with booking details closer to the time.  Interviews are one of the ways that we keep families informed and work together to ensure the success of our students.

Teaching Team

It is my pleasure to welcome these teachers to Team Tally:  Sarah Peschek (Year 1), Tegan Ferrier (Year 2), Alison Foster (Dance and Year 2), David King (Year 2 & Year 4), Leah Horn (Year 3), Bonnie Hapi (Music) and Connor Hutchinson (Year 4). We are thrilled to welcome back Erica Collins (Year 3), Marg Haebich (Year 2) and Tyler Smith (Year 4).

Friendly Reminders

  • Uniform shoes are plain black (no coloured or white trim or laces).
  • Students with hair below shoulder length are required to wear it tied back.
  • School supervision commences at 8:55am (i.e. the start of school).  Students must not be at school before 8:30am (unless doing a school extra-curricular activity).  Only the few students who arrive by bus just before 8:30am may wait in the undercover area near the tuckshop.  You are welcome to contact Camp Australia to enquire about before school care if you need to drop your child at school early.
  • We care about the environment and encourage wrapper free lunch boxes.  Each week we have Wrapper Free Wednesday and our EcoMarines help us to celebrate the absence of rubbish in lunchboxes across the school.

School Grounds

A shout out to Scotty, our Facilities Officer, for his tireless work making our school grounds spectacular!  Our gardens are abundant with flowers, fruit and lush greenery.  The natural beauty is enjoyed every day!
