Physical Education

Written by Matt Symmons

Welcome back to another year of Physical Education at Saltwater College. We hope everyone had a relaxing and safe holiday and spent lots of fun time with family and friends. This year, Ms. Evans and Mr. Symmons will be joined by Mr. Reardon to deliver the school’s P.E. classes.

During our first two weeks of P.E. in Term One, students from Prep to Year Six have been working on the Essential Agreements to establish class expectations, which will help to guide our collaboration and teamwork throughout 2022. The Essential Agreements are based on the the IB curriculum, and these will be displayed in the gym and available on the School Box year level pages in the coming weeks. The pictures below show the children developing these agreements together.

This fortnight, year levels have enjoyed warm up activities and a variety of games. Our new Prep students are all settling in well and have done a great job learning how to move safely around the gym.

This week some students on Monday and Tuesday had the opportunity to try field hockey. Nick from Altona Hockey Club along with other coaches came out to Saltwater and ran skill sessions and minor games. Everyone involved had a great time and learnt new skills and extended their knowledge on a two handed strike, dribbling and trapping.

The P.E. team would like to congratulate the following 28 students (14 girls and 14 boys) who have been selected to represent Saltwater P-9 College at the District Swimming Sports this term.
