Wellbeing News
Welcome back to SMDP for 2022. We are excited to see all our students and families back and look forward to sharing our wellbeing news with you this year.
As we return to school during the summer months it is an important time of year to remind our students of the importance of looking after their skin. Teachers will remind students to apply sunscreen during the day and wear their hats outside. At SMDP we have a SunSmart Policy that is available to read on our school website.
St Martin de Porres Primary School SunSmart Policy provides guidelines to:
- Ensure all students, staff members, contractors and volunteers are protected from over-exposure to UV radiation;
- Ensure the outdoor environment provides shade for students, staff members, contractors and volunteers;
- Ensure students are encouraged and supported to develop independent sun protection skills to help them be responsible for their own sun protection;
- Support duty of care requirements;
- Support the school’s Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) obligations and initiatives to ensure the safety and well-being of all members of the School Community.
Parents and carers must ensure that their child provides their own SPF30+. In the absence of a student providing their own sunscreen staff members will offer a school purchased product to the student.
All St Martin de Porres Primary School students are required to wear their school hat that protects their face, neck and ears, whenever they are outside.
We look forward to working in partnership with you in 2022. If you have any questions or need support please do not hesitate to contact us.
