Mathematics

Helping your kids at home.

Thank you for the feedback you provided through the parent survey in the last newsletter. This feedback will assist me to communicate relevant information to the parent community.

One concern that parents had was how best to teach formal addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Probably something that has changed in the teaching of mathematics since our school days is that there is no one way to resolve an equation. It is about finding the most efficient solution for the problem. Often in class, we get students to share their different ways. I encourage you to discuss with your child the way you solve a problem and ask them to share with you their methods. I have attached a link to an article that highlights ways you can help your child.
