Unfortunately the First Eucharist Masses that were to take place this term have all been postponed, under further notice. Once the restrictions are lifted we will be able to move forward so that the children can receive their First Eucharist. Hopefully we will be able to celebrate this important sacrament soon.

PRAYER OF THE WEEK

A prayer of hope that I found during the week which struck a chord during this latest lockdown by Jean E Taddonio

In the broken place

where we live,

hope can be found

in the cracks

If a dandelion

can push herself

up from the earth

though a sliver of light

in cement

and be called a weed

—or a flower

by those who see more

surely, we too can bloom

in our brokenness

where we live

and see more

WINTER SHELTER 2021 UPDATE

Unfortunately it’s been a trying time for Winter Shelter 2021 and especially frustrating for our  wonderful volunteers and cooks with Lockdown interruptions and fewer than desired numbers of  guests. However another way of looking at this is that the pandemic has created a focus on  homelessness and many possible guests have at least short term accommodation. Programs like  Homeless to Home however are only funded until mid-year so things may change shortly. Many  thanks for your patience and perseverance.

If you are interested in understanding more about the long term problem of homelessness, the  Winter Shelter Advocacy for Homeless group would like to invite you to a forum.

The Homelessness Forum will be held at the North Ringwood Uniting Church (NRUC) 14 Dickson  Cres, Nth Ringwood on Monday, September 6th, 2021 from 7:30pm to 9:00pm. The confirmed  speakers are Dustin Halse, MP, State Member for Ringwood, Michael Sukkar, MP, Federal Member  for Deakin, Assistant Treasurer, Minister for Housing and Minister for Homelessness, Social and  Community Housing & Bronwyn Pike, the CEO of Uniting Victoria and Tasmania who has extensive  experience across the public, private and community services, are our confirmed guest speakers.  Please support this event by attending. You are welcome to invite others. If you have any questions  or would like to RSVP, please email Robyn on: kilpatricks@aapt.net.au RSVP by 4 September please.
