Great Book Swap and Cake Stall by Deane House

The Great Book Swap (GBS) and Cake stall to support ILF were a huge success. Over the course of this week, students and staff came together in the SLRC with books that they had loved, but could bear to part with. Students visited the SLRC and walked away with something wonderful to read.

Cakes donated by the kind-hearted parents of Deane House raised in $390 and the GBS raised in excess of $200, which will provide books and literacy programs to remote Indigenous communities where they are needed most.

If you missed this opportunity, you will be still able to donate online until end of this year. Please use this link and share with friends and family to help raise funds.

Thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of students, staff and parents. Sidney Edwards (Year 9) is to be commended for his role as ILF Ambassador for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, leading a team of Deane House students who ran the event. Year 9 Deane tutor group is admirable to support Sidney behind the scene.

Special thanks to Deane House parents who donated very delicious cakes. Many thanks to Mrs. Haines, Mrs, Opie, Ms Well, Mrs. Van Gelderen and Mrs Turner who assisted with planning, supervision and donation of beautiful books. Thanks to SRC members who support with the GBS in SLRC during recess and lunch breaks.

Many thanks to all of you who took part. I hope you all enjoy your holiday reading, content in the knowledge that you have supported a most worthy cause.
