Winter Ball

Congratulations and a huge thank you to all our wonderful musicians who provided music at the inaugural BMGS Winter Ball for Year 11 students. 

 

The Chamber Ensemble comprising of Emily Colbran (Year 10) Indigo Franklin (Year 12) and Michayla Clark (Year 12) and led by Mrs Cooney set the perfect tone for the evening, performing music for the student presentations and for the students' two formal dances.   For the second part of the evening, our Stage Band comprising Tom Delaney (Year 12), Ben Delaney (Year 9), Layla Davis (Year 10), Sebastian Aldred (Year 12), Casper Larkin (Year 10), Mirah Larkin (Year 12), William  Louis (Year 9), and featuring our illustrious Alumni Allstars: Hamish Davis (2020, Baritone Sax), Laura Williams (2018, Alto Sax) Kate Verhoeven (2017, Piano), Joey Jones Romeo (2017, Trombone), Rohan Dugdale (2016, Trumpet), Hamish Davidson (2016, Tuba) and Cameron Smith (2016, Drums) kept everyone on the dance floor for the remainder of the evening. 

 

Members of the audience were very impressed by the finesse and quality of music performed both ensembles. It was a privilege to conduct such a talented and dedicated groups of musicians, and to have so many of our Alumni musicians eagerly return to support their School .  Thank you again to all  who were involved in the music for the evening:  we  couldn’t have done it without you!

 

Orpheus Strings Concert

At 3:00pm this Sunday afternoon, 20th June, at Katoomba Public School, Orpheus String Orchestra is presenting a concert which will focus on Australian women composers, including some who are local to the Blue Mountains. Additional works by Janacek and Vivaldi are also on the program. Please join us for a lovely afternoon of music. Tickets are available at the door. 

 

Sydney Children’s Choir Concert

The Sydney Children’s Choir returns to the stage tomorrow evening, 19th June, with “Miracles” - a program of exquisite choral works including the world premiere of new works by Sam Weiss, the choir’s Composer Fellow. Commissioned in 2020, these works tell stories of love and hope in the face of great adversity. Be uplifted by the voices of the Sydney Children’s Choir in a night of transformative choral music.

Save the Date: Wollemi Quintet

Alumnus Miriam Cooney (2019) will be performing as part of an exciting new wind quintet, the Wollemi Quintet, at St Hilda’s Anglican Church, Katoomba on Sunday, 18th July at 2:00pm. These young wind players are keen to share their love of music and are presenting their first Winter Concert Series. The program includes pieces by Dvorak, Carl Nielsen, Malcolm Arnold and Farrough.
