Crazy Hair Day Results!
Did you know that our Crazy Hair Day at the end of last term, raised $629.90? We've just had a lovely letter of appreciation from the CEO of Cystic Fibrosis WA, thanking us for our efforts and support.
Well done, everyone!
First Aid Training
It might have been school holidays, but for staff it was an opportunity to ensure we were ready to continue providing excellent care for your children.
During the break one one such option was a Senior First Aid refresher training for teachers, aids and the administration. Our roving reporter, Mr Meyer, assured us that Mrs Govender and Mr Maynard survived what the images suggest were training ordeals!
Big Day of Play - Tree Planting
As part of the College's annual 'Big Day of Play', an element of Community Service is included. Each year we are responsible for replanting projects at a number of sites owned by the City. Mrs Ackerman is almost responsible for the regrowth of an entire region over the years!
So the final day of last term found students from across the Primary Years helping in this endeavour, and making a difference in the city in a meaningful way.
Well done, everyone.
Big Day of Play
What better way to finish off the term than with a BIG DAY OF PLAY!
The Primary students across both campuses are letting their creative play juices have a fabulous work-out today, with all manner of activities happening.
Whether it was making cubby houses out of boxes, dressing up, creating an artistic masterpiece, or an impromptu game of soccer - it all was part of letting their children create their own fun, and no doubt learn a lot along the way.
This is an annual event on the College calendar - and hugely popular!
Choir Performance
Mrs de Villiers has done a fantastic job with our Primary band and choir. Here's a snapshot of the performance from last term's COGGs assembly.
Students have been brilliant at their practicing and performance development, with confidence growing week by week.
Well done, kids. It sounds amazing!
NB: The blurr is intentional to protect the images of several students.
Uni Camp 2021
Uni Camp is over for another year and Mr Meyer and students have returned with a sense of excitement about all they uncovered.
The universities pulled out all the stops, allowing the Year 11s to get a feel for what is on offer and the resources available to them after they finish their Secondary education.
Thanks Mr Meyer for organising this opportunity.
Cross Country in Primary
What a fantastic day! Our annual Primary Lapathon is not only a fun way to prepare for an upcoming cross country competition but it also raises money for our Bam Bang charity in the Philippines. Good weather, a beautiful place to run and all the effort from staff, students and parent volunteers made it a wonderful event.
Cadets in Full Colour
The Cadets program is one of the most popular in our Secondary School - with students from the primary years enthusiastically longing for entry into the squads when they are old enough.
Equally, the Year 12 students mourn the conclusion to their part in the course, and late last term marked the final day for the Class of 2021.
To celebrate the close of this chapter, the oval was awash with a colour run. The billowing dust made some of the students unrecognisable - and it was unanimously a successful and fun end to this journey.
Thanks Mr Spencer for organising this special moment for this year's graduating class.
COGGS in Secondary
Recently, last terms' Secondary Showcase unfolded in the auditorium. Filled with snapshots of great student work, film-making, teacher profiles and celebrations of success, the morning was uplifting.
Amongst those acknowledged were students who form part of this year's Student Council, as well as other students who have achieved significance in fields beyond the College. From sporting success and representation to community service contributions we were thrilled to be able to honour students in this way.
Congratulations to all.
Secondary Art on Display
There’s some pretty special artwork on display in the library at the moment. Mrs Dodd’s students have been completing their design projects in art - and the results are spectacular.
Thanks Mrs Dodd for sharing. Absolutely brilliant.
Year 7 success!
Congratulations Cornerstone! We've done it again!
We are delighted to announce that the College is the State Winner for the Cows Create Careers program again in 2021! Not even a new format could knock Mrs Wright from her winning run. We are blessed to have a teacher who is so invested in student learning, and with skills to bring out the best in our children - and winning the state title in most of the past 13 years is something quite remarkable.
Congratulations, students for taking such good care of our bovine guests, for taking your learning so seriously and creatively, and producing material that was deserving of this top spot.
Well done!
Fruity science
Our Year 11 and 12 program is very diverse and can include some very interesting activities ... like the Year 11 Human Biology students extracting DNA from strawberries!
Thanks, Mrs Haagensen for capturing your students' discoveries!
