Alumni News

In the first week of Term 2, 345 GEC students participated in alumni sessions.

The Year 9 and 10 cohorts were joined by three alumni to discuss post-school study and career pathways, subject selection, and work experience.

Ashleigh Harris (Class of 2019) explained how the subjects she selected to study at school helped prepare her to become a veterinarian.

Saahil Luthra (Class of 2009) spoke about how his choice to do a VET subject supported his successful career in filmmaking.

Felix Ouldanov (Class of 2009) presented how despite his many career changes, his work experience placement helped guide him in finding his most enjoyable career in the tech industry.

A big thank you to these three alumni for supporting GEC students in recognising that life after high school isn't always a linear pathway.

On top of this, the Year 11 English Language students were lucky to discuss study and career pathways in linguistics with Fergus Boyd (peer year 2018). Fergus is currently living in WA, working to help preserve the native Indigenous language.

Fergus provided insight into his unique work in this space and advised the students of some tips and tricks when studying English language in VCE.

It was great to see this alum connect with the students and encourage them to use their English language skills in the future.
