Everybody Welcome!
The GEC School Breakfast Club enjoyed a successful start of the year. We welcomed Year 7 students and new members to the club. Term 1 was busy when we celebrated Cultural Diversity Week hosted by the Languages Department. Fun, engaging themed breakfasts were a hit with students indulging in French, Japanese and Hebrew breakfasts!
$2,000 School Breakfast Clubs Program appliance grant!
In term 1 Glen Eira College received a $2,000 School Breakfast Clubs Program appliance grant from the Victorian government, to support delivery of Schools Breakfast Club programs! We purchased a new large sandwich press, robust toasters, blender, rice cooker and soon we will receive delivery of a new fridge and freezer for the storeroom! Delivered by The Good Guys, these new appliances will add so much value to our club; adequate storage for the bread, butter, cheese, milk, mini milks, apples, pears, oranges, carrots, fruit cups, tinned fruit, baked beans and more! We can offer more variety such as smoothies, juices, and piping hot rice for our Indian and Japanese Breakfasts! Photos will be posted to our social media platforms very soon!
Breakfast & Lunch Food Hampers
The Breakfast Club at Glen Eira College can support students who may not have access to enough food at home. Each food hamper, otherwise known as "school holiday pack" contains enough breakfast food, snacks and lunches to help support one student for two weeks. These can be picked up from the school. Please contact the school on 9571 7838 to let Reception know you'd like a hamper put aside for you to pick up.
Acknowledgments
The School Breakfast Club aims to ensure students start the day with a healthy meal, to improve concentration throughout the school day and help students make friends and strong social connections. As a result, GEC acknowledge the very generous support of Bakers Delight Carnegie.
Finally, I would like to give a big shout out to the Glen Eira College Parents Association (GECPA) for their tremendous ongoing support of the Breakfast Club.
