Year 6 Excursion - Government House

Tuesday 2 May

On Tuesday 2 May, Year 6 students are visiting Government House as part of their inquiry into governance. We will depart school at 8.45am sharp. As this is a formal occasion, students will need to wear their formal uniform, including their shell jacket. Students are required to bring their own packed lunch, their water bottle and a raincoat just in case it is needed.

The visit will include a garden tour, morning tea provided by the Government House chefs, a tour of the House and a chat with Her Excellency in the Ballroom about the role of the Governor. Afterwards, we will have lunch at the Botanical Gardens before walking over the Domain to return to school by 1.40pm.

As we are out of school over the first break, lunch orders cannot be purchased or accessed on this day.

Year 6 Canberra Trip

Monday 8 May - Friday 12 May

This year, Year 6 Students will visit Canberra from Monday 8 May to Friday 12 May for an educational tour of the national capital. Students will be given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy.

The Canberra Trip is an integral part of the Year 6 Primary Years Programme. The school would like to acknowledge the funding contribution from the Australian Government who recognise the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. The rebate, which is made under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program, is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.

Please do not hesitate to speak to your class teacher or call the Morris Office if you have any queries at all about arrangements for the Canberra trip.
