What an eventful term this has been so far.  Our students have settled back into their classroom routines smoothly, and it is business as usual for the learning program.

Prep - Year 03 Gymnastics

Our Prep - Year 03 students were very excited to commence their gymnastics program in week 2. This has become the highlight of their week. Our grade 03 students are doing a great job taking care of their Prep person as we walk to and from the YMCA. All of the students are well engaged in the program, which is improving their confidence to try new physical activities. It is a joy to see them giving every task on offer a go. It is an effort each week to get them to put their shoes back on and return to school.

Year 04 - 06 Interschool Sport

While the gymnastics program is running, our Year 04 - 06 students are heading off to interschool sport every week. This term, they are involved in netball and tee-ball. We are thrilled to have scored a couple of wins in girls' netball and mixed tee-ball so far. This is a great achievement, as we are up against some large schools who field teams with just Year 06 students. We have also been proud to hear that our children are upholding our school values each week, as well as displaying great sportsmanship and team spirit. Keep up the great work everyone. We are very proud of you all.

Year 03 - 06 Sovereign Hill Camp

Last week, I had the pleasure of attending our first Year 03 - 06 camp at Sovereign Hill. It was a fabulous opportunity for our students to experience life on the goldfields, which complemented beautifully their units of work in this area of our history. Once again, our students showed our school values throughout their experience and I received comments from members of the public about how well-mannered they were.

Students were immersed in a variety of rich activities, which gave them a real life taste of what life was like at the goldfields in the 1850s. Some examples included: a boiled confectionery demonstration, tours of 2 gold mines, gold panning, tours of the diggings, candle making demonstration, visits to the grocers and bowling with wooden balls and pins. The most amazing learning experience was the AURA show on Wednesday night, which showed through state-of-the-art imagery the story of gold, the Indigenous perspective of this historical time, as well as the events surrounding the Eureka Stockade. This is an experience we will all remember for years to come.

Now we are back at school, we will be doing lots of assessments as we move towards the end of semester 1. Please ensure your children are at school as often as possible so that they are able to complete these important tasks. Of course, we do not encourage you to send them if they are unwell. Let’s look after each other as we head into the cold winter months ahead.
