Great German Day Out in Marvellous Melbourne

Years 10, 11 and 12 German enjoyed a great day out recently, practising their German in the Melbourne CBD. They travelled by train and foot to the Kino Cinema on Collins Street to see the relevant and warm-hearted film One in A Million about coming of age and relationships in the modern world. This film is part of the German Film Festival which runs until the end of May.

After lunch, students walked with Frau Wallace and Ms Kalifatidis up to the German Lutheran Church in Parliament Place near Spring Street and Treasury. They were able to practise their German speaking and listening skills during our Q and A session and church tour with Pastor Kim Kiessling. Pastor Kim enjoyed meeting the students and they in turn enjoyed the atmosphere inside the beautiful heritage church, where a sizeable local German-speaking community regularly meets.

A rich and rewarding day, which we hope to repeat next year, was savoured by all. Thanks especially to Ms Kalifatidis who stepped in to help at short notice and was a wonderful addition to our group.
