Athletics

At the end of Term 1 we celebrated the CESC whole school Athletics Carnival that saw the orange house, Chisholm win overall. It was great to see students and staff dressing up in their house colour’s to support the athletes representing their house in each event. The camaraderie was highlighted during the relay races where students lined the final 100m to cheer and applaud the runners.

Region Sport

Term 2 kicked off with the Year 7 girls’ regional volleyball. The girls beat Hallam and Cheltenham, but unfortunately lost out to Frankston in the final. I am sure the girls will come back stronger next year.  The Intermediate girl’s tennis team travelled to Packenham Tennis Centre to compete against Frankston and McKinnon. Despite being 1 player down the girls remained positive and enjoyed some excellent rallies. The Year 7 boys’ tennis team were also in action in Pakenham, where they demonstrated resilience and tenacity to compete against some hard-hitting opposition. The Year 8 boys volleyball team travelled to Dandenong to try and replicate their achievements of reaching the state competition in Year 7. The boys played some excellent volleyball showcasing some outstanding skills and team spirt.

Term 2 Sports

The Year 8’s was the first cohort to participate in the Term 2 Inter School Sport competition in soccer, badminton, and netball. The Year 8 girls soccer team cruised to victory displaying some silky skills and exceptional teamwork. The girls will progress to regionals later this year. The boys’ soccer team were involved in some good contests but unfortunately lost out in the final game. The Year 8 girls netball team …. And the Year 8 badminton teams …..

This week the senior and junior boys netball teams travelled to Gloria Pyke Netball Complex to represent CESC at the alternate sports competition. Both teams played in a spirit that reflected the values embedded in the school culture, displaying responsibility and respect for oneself, each other, opponents, staff and umpires.

Cross Country

On a brisk Thursday morning, 70 students were shuttled from school to Casey Fields to participate in the Cranbourne East Secondary College cross country with the aim of qualifying for the division stage taking place on Thursday 25th May. The students were optimistic and in high spirits about the challenge ahead of them, the under 16 students faced a 3km track around the multiple ovals situated at Casey, while the over 16’s faced a gruelling 5km track. The students were put through a warmup before they set on their way. The success of the day saw 44 students progress to the division stage to compete against the local schools in the area. Wish those progressing good luck and congratulate all runners on their effort and attitude. Once again it was pleasing to see students encourage and support one another to get to the finish line as quick as possible.
