From the Assistant Principal
As we reach the midpoint of term 2, it is with great pleasure that I acknowledge the remarkable efforts and achievements of our year 7 and 8 students at Cranbourne East Secondary College. I applaud their dedication, hard work, and commitment to learning.
We continue to take great pride in our school's identity, and one aspect that reflects our collective spirit is our school uniform. We commend our students for consistently adhering to our uniform expectations, which foster a sense of belonging and unity, and ensures safety. There has been an elevated focus on this, and I commend students of the junior school for their adherence and working with leaders to bring about change where required.
Wearing the uniform with pride demonstrates student commitment to representing our school values (Respect, Growth, Achievement and Responsibility) both within and beyond the campus. Let us continue to embrace this requirement and present ourselves as ambassadors of excellence.
Attendance plays a crucial role in a student's educational journey. I encourage all students to continue to make comnsistent attendance a priority and seek family support. By being present in every class, students not only enhance their own learning but also contribute to the collective growth of our school community. Active presence creates an engaging and vibrant atmosphere, making every lesson more enriching and meaningful. Let's ensure that we maximize our potential by being punctual and attending school regularly. The Year Level Leaders are here to support those struggling to get to school regularly. Please do not hesitate to reach out. Attendance, leaving class, and being on time will be a focus as we head into semester 2.
Learning and engagement extends far beyond textbooks and classrooms. It is through extra-curricular activities that we explore our passions, build friendships, and develop essential life skills. We commend the dedication of our students who actively participate in sports, clubs, arts, and community service. There is much on offer currently, with more heading the way of our students. Engaging in these activities not only provides a well-rounded experience but also helps develop leadership, teamwork, and time-management skills.
At CESC, we foster a culture of positive learning behaviours. I acknowledge and celebrate the resilience, curiosity, and perseverance demonstrated by our students every day. Student commitment to active listening, respectful collaboration, and constructive participation in class discussions sets a powerful example for others. These positive behaviours enhance our classroom dynamics and enable us to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Together, let's continue to engage in active learning, ask questions, and challenge ourselves to reach new heights.
Looking forward to the rest of term 2.

From the Leaders
It has been a big term 2 so far for the Green Building students. Dom Phelan from Optus was back again to present workshops to all Year 7 and 8 students. Year 7 focussed on Cyberbullying, whilst the Year 8 workshop was on Digital Balance.
In the Cyberbullying session students explored the importance of respectful relationships online through compelling scenarios, and were asked to consider their impact when interacting online. Discussion about consent online, image-based abuse, and the tools they have to positively support themselves and their peers.
Digital Balance involved understanding how technology can help students achieve amazing things, and challenge why they get stuck on social media. During the workshop, students explored the positive uses of technology on their wellbeing and take steps to improve digital wellbeing through streamlining what devices can do for them.

Engagement opportunities and program update
Term 2 has commenced with a range of opportunities for our students.
We have commenced a leadership and engagement program with Victoria Police called Blue Edge, where students have an opportunity to play sports and improve their fitness with local police members and discuss current issues within our community.
In partnership with Le Mana we have embarked on a cultural journey where students of all ages of Pasifika background can connect once a week to discuss and present their cultural history to their families later in the term.
We are building new connections in year 7 within our Connect 4 Success program. Students have an opportunity to forge new friendships outside of their normal classes, whilst learning new techniques to engage with peers, teachers and families. We have been able to work on our team building skills whilst making juicy, delicious hamburgers.
Hands on Learning continues to brighten our school with their amazing projects. We continue to work on our woodwork, painting and cooking skills and as we have had to stop brightening up the shipping containers due to the weather, we are supporting our Performing Arts team by building and painting stage props for the upcoming Shrek Production and hope you can attend and see what students have built for our future acting stars in July.

Chinese Arts Incursion
“On 16th May, our Year 8 students participated in a Chinese Arts Incursion. They learnt about blue-and-white porcelain 青花瓷(qīng huā cí). They also designed and created their own mini vases, chopsticks rest, jewellery dishes and so many more using the air-dry clay.”
