The Dawn Service
The School Captains proudly represented Great Ryrie Primary School at the Dawn Service in Ringwood on Sunday morning at 5:30am.
It was a very dignified occasion, with the added symbolism of darkness breaking into sunrise resulting in a compelling and emotional experience.
The darkness, calm and chill of the early morning and the mournful notes of Last Post sounded by a lone bugler, combined to give a feeling of deep solemnity.
The School Captains were announced and proceeded to lay a wreath in honour of all Australians and New Zealanders who served and died in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations and to recognise the contribution and suffering of all those that served.
It was such a privilege to be in attendance, and thank you to the Captains and their parents for representing our school in a respectful and responsible way.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
Lest We Forget
The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) 2021 for Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 students will be held on Tuesday 11 May, Wednesday 12 May and Thursday 13 May 2021. NAPLAN tests assess student knowledge and skills in Writing, Reading, Language Conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and Numeracy.
The results of the tests provide information for students, parents, teachers and principals which can be used to improve student achievement.
Please read important information in regards to the testing in the NAPLAN section of the Newsletter this week.
Approval was sought and received from School Council for our 2021 Annual Implementation Plan.
Each year the school looks closely at our priority areas and we develop action plans to help achieve the best possible outcomes for our students.
Please find a copy attached for your information.
Enjoy the glorious weather this weekend with your family and friends. I am hoping that Richmond find their form and have a win.
