What a fabulous term in sport at College it has been! It has been wonderful to see so many students back playing sport after the difficult year in 2020 and our summer sport “Heads” and their coaches and managers should be praised and thanked for enforcing the strict COVID protocols at the beginning of the season to ensure the seasons could get underway.

We have had great success for our students participating in the various individual and team sports on offer. Highlights include the swimming team’s comprehensive victory in the pool at Portland in the Glenelg Division carnival. They then backed it up with some impressive swims at MSAC in the ICCES Carnival where we once again won the “STAR” Shield which is awarded to the school that gains the most points on the day based on school population.

Our athletes have started their season well with success at Casterton a few weeks ago in the Glenelg Division Athletics Carnival. Winning all three shields on offer, we can be incredibly proud of the effort and attitude displayed from the 85 students that competed on the day. The ICCES Athletics event is on the 20 May and we will begin training for this from the first week of Term Two.

The rowing crews have had a pleasing season, with impressive results at several regattas from girls and boys crews and India Ross in her single scull events. Tennis players in mixed and ladies teams competed at the Hamilton Lawn Tennis Club and our Racquet Sports Captain was part of the winning ladies team. Basketball teams in juniors and seniors divisions have got back on the court and are enjoying their games.

Finally, our cricketers have enjoyed more success with the First Eleven Girls team easily defeating Monivae College in their annual game and our Under 16 College CC players won their grand final to be crowned “premiers and champions” – an amazing effort. To cap off a great season for the cricket club we had several students become senior premiership players as members of the victorious B and D grade sides.
