Myrniong - ELC to Yr6

Assembly

At this week’s Assembly, we were entertained by the Year 3 class who presented Enid Blyton’s story ‘The Adventures of the Wishing Chair’.  The students were excited to perform on ‘the big stage’ in the Simons Auditorium and relished the opportunity to showcase their acting abilities.  They remembered a huge amount of lines, used the microphones well and created a wonderful stage presence.  The students took the tasks of preparing costumes, props and creating the settings very seriously, searching for and choosing appropriate photos and videos to enhance the performance.  The audience were captivated throughout the performance particularly when the wizard ate ‘real’ chocolate.

We were also treated to a lovely piece played on the violin by Year 1 student, Maggie Wallis.  She stood proudly on the stage to play ‘Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star’ like a professional, not at all daunted by the size of the stage or audience.  It is always a pleasure to see students showcase their learning from their music lessons.

Well done to the Year 3 class and Maggie for such an entertaining morning.

I would also like to mention that our Piccino students joined us for their first Assembly for this year.  They took the bus to see the show and sat in the front row.  What excellent audience members they were.

Bebras

Students from Years 3 – 6 recently completed the Bebras Computational Thinking Challenge. The results have been delivered and there have been some impressive results including a high distinction.  This highlights the problem solving and critical thinking skills of the students. They will be presented with their certificates at the beginning of Term Two.

Anzac Service

Students have been invited to join in the official ANZAC Day March on Sunday 25 April (this is the first weekend of Term Two).  Those wishing to attend should meet at 9.45am at Gray Street Primary School in their full winter uniform.  The Junior School ANZAC Service will be held on Monday, 26 April at Myrniong.

Easter Festivities

The Easter Bunny has been busily hopping around the Junior School delivering treats to students.  I would like to thank the House Captains for planning and organising activities for their House members and for making sure there was something special for everyone.

Our school leaders also showed initiative by running an Easter colouring competition open to all students.  I have been impressed to see the effort put into the rabbit designs as they are returned to school bursting with a rainbow of colour.

Happy Holidays

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff, students and school community for a great term. Although it has been extremely busy, it has also been productive and rewarding.

Wherever the holidays take you, stay safe and enjoy some well deserved rest and relaxation and most of all be grateful for the extra time you get to spend with your families.

Happy Easter to everyone.
