Primary School

From the Head of Primary

I have loved the opportunity this term to see our classes in action and see the array of innovative, engaging and quality learning experiences on offer, from our Year Threes taking their learning outside to our Year Ones creating their spelling words in an array of multisensory ways and our Year Twos and Fives joining up to experience learning in our Wild Space. We are blessed to have teachers who guide our students to strive for their best with a range of lesson opportunities.

On lunch duty, I was interviewed by some Year Four students about my knowledge of sustainability, and it was clear that a passion for looking after our environment had been sparked in them by their inquiry; perhaps the future of our world is in some safe hands?

Whilst the seriousness of NAPLAN has graced our mornings for Years Three and Five students, their spirits have been faultless, and I sincerely thank Mr Hardey, Ms Laneaux-Neale, Ms Diletti, Mrs Le Roux and Mrs Towes for the smooth running of the tests.

Passions and Pursuits

The Year Sixes spent their time on Friday afternoon aiding our teachers to run our Harmony Day-themed 'Passions and Pursuits' activities. Mr Hardey engaged students in the Chinese game of Jianzi; Mr Berryman facilitated games of Bocce and Poi Circus skills; Mr Osborne ran traditional playground games from around the world and Mrs Gordon and Ms Steinert ran a cooking session. Down in the ECC building, Mrs Field, Mrs Hannig and Mrs Lilley ran three craft activities: weaving, flower collages and a display celebrating Peace Around the World. Our next 'Passions and Pursuits' afternoon will be in Term Two with a reconciliation theme.

Values and ECC Stars of the Week

Due to NAPLAN, we had no Primary School briefing this week, but it was wonderful to award our ECC students who have been championing the School value of 'Respect'. Congratulations to Stephanie Forgus, Elleanor-Grace Danso, Max Moir and Finn Mears.

Our ECC Stars of the Week are Jemima Lester, Amaya Kiddle and Agya Yeboah. For the next two weeks, our Primary School students will be looking at the value of 'Gratitude. Whilst not one of our School values, this is something we wish to instil in all our students; each day there is always something to be grateful for.
