CHANGE OF DATE WITH THE RELEASE OF VCE RESULTS AND ATARs

The VCE results and ATARs will now be released to students on Friday 15 December and not Monday 18 December as originally advertised. This is to allow students more time to seek careers advice on changing preferences prior to schools closing for the summer break.

SCHOOL TOURS

On Wednesday 30 August and Friday 1 September school tours were held for families interested in attending Frankston High School in Years 9-12 for 2018.  The tours were well attended, and the parents were full of praise and admiration of the learning culture which was showcased on the tours of both campuses.  Congratulations and a special thank you to Jack Green (Year 12), Lizette Gerryts (Year 12), Sam Ilobuchi (Year 11), Eilis Peters (Year 11) and Harry Stuart (Year 11) who gave families a perfect insight into the teaching and learning, and culture of Frankston High School in the middle school and senior years.  Their presentations were passionate and we appreciate them taking time out of their busy VCE schedules to make the tours so successful.

PERFORMANCE AND ORAL EXAMINATIONS

Students in studies with a performance or oral component have been given a timetable for these examinations.  Any student who has not received a timetable should see Mrs Carolyn McIver in the front office of the Senior Campus immediately. The examination period begins on Monday 9 October and ends on Sunday 5 November.  Students should arrive at their examination half an hour before the scheduled start time and must have photo identification with them.

Good luck to all students involved.

YEAR 12 EXAMINATIONS:

SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

A reminder to parents and students that Year 12 exams will take place during these school holidays.  Attendance is compulsory and each Year 12 study will have an exam.

The examinations commence on Thursday 28 September and conclude on Thursday 5 October.  This is an invaluable initiative to provide feedback to students on their examination performance and devise strategies for improvement in preparation for the official VCAA Year 12 examination period.

YEAR 12 VALEDICTORY DINNER

The Year 12 Valedictory Dinner will be held on Wednesday 25 October (Week 3 of Term 4) at the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins, Melbourne.  Students should have finalised their tickets by end of Term 3 as catering numbers need to be confirmed.  I would like to thank Ms Nicole Filippou and Ms Kelly Mitchell for their excellent organisation of this night.  I look forward to seeing Year 12 parents and students at this important event.

STUDENTS DRIVING TO SCHOOL

Students who drive to school are reminded that they must complete a consent form (which is available from the Senior School Office) and attach a photocopy of their driver’s licence.

Students are not permitted to park in the school grounds or Overport Primary School, the car park of the Community Centre at Delecombe Park or directly on Foot Street or Towerhill Road. Students need to park on surrounding side streets and must ensure that they follow local parking restrictions on nearby roads.

PARENT OPINION SURVEY

Thank you to the parents who participated in the 2017 Parent Opinion Survey.  Our ‘CASES21’ computer program, randomly selected 30% of our families to participate in this survey.

The survey responses are confidential and are sent to an independent organisation that collates the data.  This data will be used to enable the school to celebrate success as well as identify areas for improvement.

Your participation in this important process is greatly appreciated.

I wish all students and parents a relaxing holiday break.  It is important that Year 12 students use these two weeks to revise thoroughly for their upcoming examinations.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Senior School teachers who have made themselves available to hold revision lectures during these holidays, and to mark and provide feedback to Year 12 students on their exams.

Mr Simon Cameron

Acting Senior Campus Principal
