Prep - Year 6

Head of Primary Update

Grandparents’ Day was a wonderful opportunity for grandparents and special family friends to visit the primary classrooms on Wednesday 22 March. The Primary Student Leaders welcomed the special guests and helped them find the classrooms.

The Hospitality Team worked hard behind the scenes, setting up G-Block both prior to and during the event. Approximately 200 visitors attended the event, our first Grandparents’ Day since 2020. A huge thank you to Mrs Naomi Armstrong who organised the food and the Hospitality Team.

Primary Swimming Carnival CANCELLED

Please note the Primary Swimming Carnival scheduled for Monday 27 March has been cancelled.

Photo Day and Uniform

Primary Photos are going to be taken on Wednesday 29 March. Students are expected to wear the correct Standard Uniform on this day and not PE uniforms. If a student is in 5/6W, 5/6H or 1/2J they will do PE in their standard uniform just for photo day.

Icypoles

Icypoles continue to be sold each lunchtime for 50c. Students are encouraged to bring the correct change if possible. Our student leaders are doing a very efficient job serving the line of students at the beginning of lunch each day.

Year 1/2 George Pentland Gardens Excursion

The Year 1 and 2 students had a wonderful time when they went on their excursion to the George Pentland Gardens on Monday 20 March. The assistance of parent helpers on the excursion is greatly appreciated and this support contributed to the success of the event.

Prep Makes Tiger Toast!

Each week the Preps focus on a different letter of the alphabet. Last week, the letter focus was ‘T’ so we read the book “The Tiger who came for Tea” and then each Prep student made their own “Tiger Toast.” We all then enjoyed eating it for Morning Tea.

Prep/1M Update

In Prep/1M we are learning how to recognise, copy and describe repeating patterns. We have been using different materials, shapes, sounds and movements. Some of our patterns are simple, like red, blue, red, blue. Other patterns are more complex, like clap, clap, stand up, sit down, clap, clap, stand up, sit down. We are also having a great time finding patterns in God’s creation, for example stripes on a zebra and hexagons in honeycomb.

Years 1/2 Excursion: George Pentland Botanical Gardens

On Monday 20 March, Years 1 and 2 went to the George Pentland Botanical Gardens. We took the bus and it was a 15 minute drive. When we got there we had our crunch and sip. Then after that we went to a GIGANTIC playground. We had a wonderful time learning about native plants and doing a scavenger hunt. It was the best. - Jonah, 1/2 Student

Years 1/2 Art

Class Prep/1M came down to the Art room this week and used paper strips to create their very own 3D sculpture. Students explored folding and twisting the paper to create different effects. This work will be displayed in the G-Block foyer.

Years 3/4 Art

The Year 3/4 students have been using hot glue guns to draw an Australian animal on cardboard. Although some students were trepidatious about using the hot glue guns they did so with success and the results have been outstanding. Keeping an eye out in G block over the next couple of weeks to see the finished products.
