Professional Learning Communities
PLC Showcase – Cycle One, 2023
Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) start from a simple idea: students learn more when their teachers work together. Using the Framework for Improving Student Outcomes (FISO), PLCs focus on continuous improvement by linking the learning needs of students with the professional learning and practice of teachers.
As an inquiry-based cycle, PLCs provide teachers with dedicated time to work collaboratively to improve student outcomes and continuously improve our teaching and learning. On Thursday 30th March GSC’s teaching staff held a PLC Showcase event to share and highlight the work we have been collectively undertaking this term in PLCs. The evening was a fantastic opportunity for staff to celebrate our Cycle One learning and to engage professionally with one another. In Term 2 we will commence Cycle Two.
The FISO Framework is used by all Victorian government schools to focus their efforts on key areas known to have the greatest impact on school improvement. For more information, read: Framework for Improving Student Outcomes
