Top o' the mornin' to ye all! Happy St Patrick's Day! Students had a ball today, thank you to Mr Niemerg, Year 5/6 students and all staff, parents and carers who participates or cooked for our event!

Students raised $310.00 for Caritas Australia. I think you would all agree that is a magnificent effort for our gorgeous little school.

Thank you to the parents/carers who came to our assembly on Wednesday, I would like to highlight how magnificent our Transition students were and to applaud all of the learning that our Year 1/2 students demonstrated.

Staff News

Professional Development with Denise McHugh at NESA

Why do we assess? Assessments provide opportunities for educators to gather evidence about student achievement in relation to the NSW curriculum.  Assessment allows students to demonstrate what they know and can do.

Assessment also aides students to clarify their understanding of the varied concepts taught and highlights to students the need for deeper thinking.  So if we are assessing, let's make sure they are excellent quality!

All education staff participated in a full Twilight Professional Development with Denise McHugh from NESA last week.  Staff revisited to A-E common Grade scale and the importance of how to create and mark quality assessments.

Staff thoroughly enjoyed the vibrant discussions regarding what constitutes quality assessment and how collaborative discussion, at both the formation of quality assessment and moderation when marking them, is so important.

Professional Development with Darryl Martin and Damian Roff

On our 2023 Annual Improvement Plan, St Mary of the Angels identified enhanced Religious Education pedagogy as an area of focus.  This week, we explored the mission, identity and context of our school to deepen our understanding of the "why" behind the desire of enhanced PE Pedagogy.

The themes of; importance and access to the RE Curriculum, desire for our curriculum to be visible and critiquable, and that no decision is made without data and discussion; were all themes that ran heavily through our discussions.

As a professional learning community, we are looking forward to building our knowledge as our work with Darryl and Damian continues.
