Water issues resolved

As pathetic as this sounds, I was literally jumping for joy on Thursday as I noticed the temporary fencing coming down around the junior playground. It was just exciting to think the kids would get their play space back! There is additional works now that need to be done to properly repair the synthetic turf, but we already know this will be a slow process.

Student Welfare

In the junior years we are noticing a few wellbeing issues around the school which we are addressing and giving students strategies to deal with situations. To help support social development, we encourage play dates and any further opportunities for children to play together where structure and expectations are evident.

At the other end of the school, we have noticed elements of 'cancel culture' that are prevalent in society making their way into our school. We believe our roles as educators are to teach your children our curriculum and teach them how to be productive members of society. It would be remiss of us to not challenge our student’s thinking in relation to these behaviours and to widen their perspective of thinking and empathy. It is through exposure to ethical thinking and respectful challenge, we develop into better human beings. We believe this is what Kingswood is doing. And we are modelling that we can do better.

Aaron Cox - Leave

I will be on long service leave from March 29th until the end of Term 1. During this period Mrs. Megan Franklyn will be Acting Principal.

Education Support Job

I would like to say farewell to Bianca Borsi. Bianca has taken up a job at another school. We have currently advertised for a new Education Support staff member. If you, or anyone you know is interested, please look at Recruitment Online for further details. We wish Bianca all the best in her new endeavour.

NAPLAN

As NAPLAN fast approaches, we understand that this can be a stressful time for both you and your child. We want to assure you that NAPLAN is just one of many assessments that your child will undertake during their schooling years, and it is important to keep things in perspective.

While NAPLAN provides useful information about your child’s strengths and areas for improvement, it is important to remember that it is not the only measure of their academic abilities. It is just one tool that we use to help identify areas where your child may need extra support and to celebrate their successes.

We encourage you to talk to your child about NAPLAN in a positive way, and to emphasise that it is just one part of their learning journey. Encourage them to do their best, but also remind them that their worth is not defined by their NAPLAN results. Remind them that they are loved and valued, regardless of their academic achievements.

As parents, you can also help to reduce stress around NAPLAN by creating a calm and supportive environment at home. Encourage your child to take breaks, get plenty of rest and engage in activities that they enjoy. Ensure that they are eating well and staying hydrated. These small things can make a big difference in helping your child to feel calm and focused during the test.

Remember, we are all here to support your child during this time. If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Together, we can work towards helping your child to achieve their full potential.
