Mathletics
Mathletics is an engaging program which switches children onto Maths. It can be used on laptops, desktop computers or on devices with the Mathletics app installed. All students throughout the school have now been activated with their new school year details. If your trouble is having trouble logging in or needs assistance, please contact your child's Homeroom teacher.
Students are allocated tasks which support the units they are currently learning within the classroom. The program also allows students to test their skills against one another or engage in times tables songs.
Maths buzz in Year 3/4
Students in Year 3/4 have been buzzing in Maths. We are currently focusing on place value and how we read and order numbers. The students have been involved in a range of activities which encourages the use of hands on equipment and games to support their learning. We are currently working towards reading, rounding and ordering numbers to the tens of thousands.
A great game to play along at home with your child to support their place value and addition understandings:
Making Tens
Equipment - 2 players, 5 or more dice, paper and pen (for recording results)
How to play:
1. One player rolls all the dice and makes groups of ten with the numbers rolled. The total points left over after making as many groups of tens is recorded by the player.
2. The second player has their turn.
3. Continue for 5 rounds, adding the left over points after each round.
4. The player with the least points after 5 rounds wins the game.
