Moonlit Sanctuary Backyard Wildlife Photo Competition.
Last week all students were given the opportunity to participate in the Moonlit Sanctuary Backyard Wildlife Photo Competition. It was amazing to see the beautiful photographs taken by our little scientists. Students were also required to identify the species and research an interesting fact. I was blown away by the commitment and care all students gave to this task.
Our efforts in the photo competition did not go unnoticed! I am delighted to announce that two St Raphael students were the overall prize winners in both categories F-2 and 3-6. I would like to take this opportunity to formally congratulate Ryker in Year 1/2 and Leonardo in Year 3/4. Ryker and Leonardo captured the winning photographs amongst more than 500 entries in each category. The competition was judged by an award-winning photographer who was very impressed with the photographs. Each student will receive a $100 gift voucher to use at Moonlit Sanctuary that can be used on tickets and/or animal experiences of their choice This is a wonderful achievement and we are extremely proud of their commitment to science education.

As part of the activity, I also asked children to submit photos to me personally if they wanted to also enter into the internal St Raphael's Backyard Wildlife Photo Competition. It was wonderful to explore the amazing backyard wildlife that students discovered in our community. I would like to take this opportunity to formally congratulate Charlotte Davis of FJ (F-2 winner) and Marcel Mortellaro (3-6 winner) of 3/4SR for their wonderfully captured photographs. Each student was awarded a Science Toy Box, kindly donated by Science Supplies Australia.
