Junior Learning Community

JLC REPORT
Term 4 is upon us which means the end of another schooling year is just around the corner. The Junior Community have been seeing many changes throughout the year and term 4 is no exception. We now have a new designated locker area. Students are reminded that the locker bay will be opened from 8:45am in time for students to collect their materials for Session 1 & 2. If students arrive late they will be re-directed to the main office to have a member of staff open the locker bay for them. Staff and students have all agreed that the new area is a much better start to the day as the students are learning to take more responsibility for their learning.
Term 4 will also see ‘Promotions Week” for the current Year 8 cohort being promoted into the Intermediate Learning Centre (ILC) to help transition into middle school. Staff from the ILC will be discussing the expectations and maturity that is required from our Year 8 students in order to have a smooth and enjoyable experience within their new centre. This will be an ongoing process throughout this term.
Term 4 has also seen much movement around the Junior Learning Centre. The Junior staff have relocated their office into the old welfare room and the welfare room has been moved next to the old staff room in order to have a more centralized location for all learning centres.
Students Participate in Bayswater Arts FestivaL
On Saturday, October 10, two Year 7 students participated in the Bayswater Arts Festival. Jordyn and Briana both wore the Bendigo Bank pig costume. Both girls really enjoyed the experience of walking around and interacting with the young people who wanted cuddles and ‘high fives’ from the pig.
Students being involved in the wider community gives the young people a connection and a sense of where they fit in the community. We thank the Bendigo Bank for giving the students this opportunity. Both girls want to don the costume next time an opportunity like this comes along.
