Junior School Report

Whole School Assembly

We are very proud of Fenella Tran 7E and Steven Ly 7J both made the farewell speech to the Year 12 students at the Whole School Assembly during Week 3, wishing them every success for their exams and futures. The students practised their speech well and presented beautifully.  Thank you to you both for your representation of the Junior School.

DOXA Leadership Camp

A number of our Year 7 students were selected to participate in a “Future Focus” leadership camp run and facilitated by the not-for-profit organisation, DOXA in the Melbourne CBD on Friday 14 October to Sunday 16 October 2016 .

Students worked on building their leadership and communication skills by participating in a range of challenge by choice activities, including indoor rock climbing and a race around the city with students from Essendon Keilor Secondary College and Buckley Park College.

As a follow up from the DOXA city camp, students will be attending four Future Focus workshops to practise their leadership skills and build on the concepts introduced at the city camp. The learning activities will include face to-face interactive, discussion, experiential and inquiry based learning.

We look forward to the students bringing their new knowledge and skills back to school.   Well done on your efforts. We hope you enjoyed yourselves and learned a lot.

Assessment

Students are busy preparing for tests and assessment tasks now and will be busy completing work for their reports. If your child is having difficulty with homework or completing tasks, they are encouraged to speak to their class teacher or their Coordinator for assistance. Please call your Coordinator if you have concerns.

Year 8 Camps

Camps are well underway this term and students are thoroughly enjoying the experience at Strathbogie. All remaining Year 8 classes will attend camp over the rest of Term 4. The camp has provided a wonderful opportunity for students to forge strong relationships with their classmates and teachers.

Thanks to Mr Micallef for his ongoing support and organisation of these camps.

2017 Planning

Planning is taking place for the new school year in 2017. If your child will be moving schools next year could you please inform your child’s coordinator, in writing, as soon as possible.  If you are planning a holiday and your child will not return to school on the first school day of 2017 we also need these details. Please contact your coordinator.

Hot Weather

With warmer weather approaching, students are reminded that only water bottles are permitted in classrooms.
