Year 8 Girls Futsal
On October the 12th, the year 8 girls futsal team entered the western zone futsal tournament, where they had to face two teams to make the finals. SASC's first match was against KDC. After a really nervy start, we got an early goal to settle the nerves. The girls started to play really well together and we got off to a 3 - 1 lead, however with 8 minutes to go KDC got a goal to make it 3 - 2 but luckily we held on to win our first match.
Our second game was against Sunshine college, a win would put the team in the finals. We started poorly, but kept the game at 2 - 2 before half time. Everyone pushed forward as we needed to win, after lots of persistence we got two goals within two minutes of the game finishing. It was a closer game then the scoreboard suggested but SASC deserve to be in the finals.
The girls had to face Taylors lakes secondary college in the grand final, it was such a close game but we ended the match 3 - 1 down concluding our day with 2nd place. Every single girl gave it their best efforts today. I am so proud of them and we will try to go one better next year.
Well done to Lucie Nguyen, Samantha Mika, Samer Osman, Zeliha Kaya, Sarah Mercieca, Marta Admassu, Nadia Gavrilovski, Leena Cheng, Dipanshu Chadha.
