The Year 12 Awards Night, held at the Clocktower Centre in Moonee Ponds on Wednesday 14 October, celebrated the academic, leadership and citizenship achievements of the graduating VCAL and VCE students.

We were priveleged to welcome Ms Helen Smith, AM, as our guest speaker for the evening.  Helen spoke about her career as a teacher and in curriculum & program  development at the state and national levels, and of her achievements as an athlete in Commonwealth and Olympic Games as a fencer.  She shared her passion for addressing social justice through education and for championing women's participation in all facets of sport competition and administration.  Being open to the opportunities that life presents was a central theme of Helen's talk.

School Captains, Cylene Magri and Eangano Singehebhuye, gave a beautiful, eloquent valedictory speech on behalf of the Year 12 students, and Vice Captains, Emma Kiernan and Patrick Tran, produced a commemorative photo story.  John Habimana, Keenan Cristina, Julia Jodko, Andrew Bui, Hong Tran & Lettly Ah Voa provided the musical entertainment for the evening.

Our sincere thanks to our many business and community partners who joined with us to acknowledge the Year 12's, and to everyone who contributed to a wonderful Awards Night.

School Assembly

On Wednesday 21 October, we came together as a whole school community for the second time this year, on this occasion to say farewell to the graduating Year 12 students.

The School Assemblies are really enjoyable events - they acknowledge who we are as a community and the value and culture that are so important to us; they also give us an opportunity to celebrate the talents and leadership of our students.

School Captains, Cylene Magri and Eangano Singehebhuye, spoke on behalf of the Year 12's, and Christopher Mabiala and Caroline Tran wished them well and accepted the role of the Year 11's as the new leaders of the school.

Year 12 Celebration Day and Farewell

The class of 2015 marked their last day as students at St Albans Secondary College with an impressive celebration after the final school assembly.  The day began with students arriving extra early with big smiles and dressed in an impressive array of colourful costumes. The cool and wet weather certainly did not dampen their enthusiasm as they took this final opportunity to take lots of photos with their peers and teachers.

Students enjoyed a BBQ lunch, especially cooked for them by Ms Bev Davies and then began the much anticipated colour run on the school oval.  Students turned their clothing into vibrant art as they doused each other from head to toe in colourful powder.  The event was all about fun and positive energy and created some memorable moments for the students.

Thank you to all of our Year 12 students for your excellent behaviour in your final weeks at school. You have maintained the tradition  at St Albans , of remaining focussed to the end and celebrating your years at school with respect and fun.
