Principal's Report

Principal's Report

At the end of last week, we had our annual final Year 12 Assembly. It was an outstanding event to celebrate the last official day of year 12 attendance. At the assembly, I talked about how our school has improved in many ways in the time the class of 2019 have been with us. They have been a key catalyst in this improvement. More than at any time in the past we work with our students. The class of 2019 have had a key role in:

  • Genuine meaningful student leadership across the school
  • Improving how students and teachers collaborate to improve learning
  • Following their interests and passions to co-create magnificent events such as our whole school performances and Cultural Family Picnic.

I would like to say on behalf of the school that we are going to miss the class of 2019. This is particularly personally true for me.

For the last time, I would like to introduce the school captains of 2019. Our leadership program here is exceptional. Other schools come here to see what we do. This year’s school captains have again raised the bar.

Caitlin has excelled over a number of years in the way she has supported students and staff in her ability to organise and get things done. She has inspired me with her words and actions.

Zac has been exceptional in leading others. A major part of his legacy has been to inspire our next generation of leaders and show them what is possible if you take the opportunities.

I have included the assembly speeches of both captains below:

Caitlin Powley

Congratulations guys, it’s finally the last day of school! I can’t express how excited I am really, because I know how much hard work every single person has put in this year, so I know we are going to smash exams out and get on with all the exciting things to come.

But before that, I want to say a big thank you and good luck to the students. It has been stressful and filled with pressure lately leading up to exams, but everyone is still supporting each other and putting in their best efforts. This is honestly so rewarding to see.

I want to say thank you to all the teachers here, especially our Year 12 teachers. They have had to put up with our whining, tears, and exhaustion. You guys have been like family to us, helping us reach our goals, pushing us over the line and truly inspiring us to do well for ourselves. You guys have put in so much of your own time to help us, and it has paid off. We will forever remember the jokes, the laughs and all the life lessons you have taught us.

Zac Neal

We’ve made it!  A tremendous congratulations to everyone. I’d simply like to take this time to thank a few people. I would like to thank all of our staff members here with us today and any staff members that aren’t here today, but have had an impact on our journey through our schooling. I’d like to give particular mention to all of our year 12 teachers for being not only educators, but sharers of life skills, extending beyond essay writing and maths. I’d also like to wish all the best to next year’s captains and leadership team, to continue to do great things within the school and beyond.

To reflect on the year and realise how fast it has gone, all the high and low memories shared and the joy it has been being a part of such a school. A message to all of my younger peers in the room and to tell you school is what you make of it and nothing less. Opportunities are everything.

For my message to the class of 2019, my peers, well that can wait till graduation.

So, to say my final words at my last assembly, give it 110% in anything you do and truly make it count. Thank you.
