House Athletics Carnival 2019

Last Wednesday the 27th of Feb, Melbourne Girls’ held their Athletics carnival at Collingwood Athletics Track. What a day it was with nice, sunny and perfect weather. This year the theme was “Way Back Wednesday” where everyone came dressed up as iconic people from their chosen decade. There was a spectrum of costumes that varied from hippies from the 70’s, to Pop Icons such as the Spice Girls from the 90’s.

This year on top of all the track and field events we had a Tough Mudder style Obstacle Course challenge and a longest footy kick competition. I think that these two new additions to the carnival was a great success, as we had a lot of student participation.

Chisholm made it 2 Athletics Carnivals in a row, narrowly beating Lyons by the time the last events were run and won. Both houses traded 1st place on a number of occasions during the day and it was fitting that the result was only made official after the relay events.
