Covid-Creative
7A experimenting with free verse
Have you noticed how creative people get in their lock-down? Whether it be learning new skills (baking), sportscasters narrating everyday life tasks, or families getting together on Tik Tok. Have you seen Neil, Liam and Elory Finn playing in lockdown? Vika and Linka Bull singing ‘Amazing Grace’ at their kitchen table? You must watch Jon Vertigan calling the Parenting the Teenagers Maiden. Very clever!
Year 7A have turned their covid-creative talents to poetry writing. In their poems, they have reflected on the feeling of social distancing, remote learning, boredom but also hope. We experimented with Haiku’s and free verse (learning about enjambment). We’ve selected a few here for you to enjoy.
Boredom and isolation
are the same,
but not.
Boredom is boring
and
isolation is being
bored and alone,
but
either way,
you still need to find
things to do.
By Ravi
The empty space
between us
grows steadily larger
as we imprison ourselves
behind
our doors.
I feel so -
Alone.
By Neko
It is weird
it feels surreal -
Discomfort and confusion.
By Zac
It's hard
to not see my friends
talking to them on facetime
just isn't
the same.
By Victoria
Oh
how I really want
this to end. The covid pandemic
broke my
World.
By Verity
The toilet paper
is gone
and the world is
loo-sing
its sanity.

Breezy coastal morning,
Cool sands devoid of footprints,
Social distancing.

I miss my people
But my chicken lays
Lovely olive eggs
