Year 8 - Bentleigh East

Welcome to Year 8

The students have made a positive start to the year and have managed a snap lockdown with a brief return to remote learning.

The students are to be congratulated on their excellent standard of personal presentation. Let’s hope this continues throughout the year!

It was great to see so many of you at our recent Information Evening. Once again, my thanks for giving up your valuable time to come and meet with us. As mentioned our theme, United by Our Vision, Our Passion, Our Future, underpins the many challenges which pertain to Year 8. In keeping with our theme, we have continued to promote an atmosphere of Courtesy, Cooperation and Commitment with emphasis on students developing and maintaining respectful relationships with their parents, teachers and each other. They are encouraged to make a commitment to their studies, to do their best in class, to do their best with tasks and homework, using their College diary as a crucial organisational tool and to get involved in college life making the most of the many opportunities in Year 8.

As a team our focus will be on well-being. Over the coming months we will cover a range of topics including, Resilience, Study Skills, Cyber Safety and Respectful Relationships.

Once again I would like to emphasise the importance of partnership between home and school, between parents, students and teachers.

We are eagerly preparing for Mission Action Day, swimming and athletics and have had the wonderful opportunity to participate in the Opening School Assembly as one College. It is my great pleasure to be on this journey with you and the students of Year 8. Thanks to the families who have made contact already. Should you have any concerns or need assistance please do not hesitate to contact either myself or the homeroom teacher.

With every good wish and blessings for the year ahead.
