Year 8 Sports Day
Looking back over the previous 4 weeks of the 2021 school year, it has been pleasing and rewarding to see the Year 8s enjoying the company of new classmates, respecting the learning environment of the classroom and challenging themselves to participate in a number of extra-curricular activities in February.
So far, the students have had the opportunity to participate in the following events: The Hackett Mile, Junior House Athletics Carnival, House Swimming Carnival and ACC Athletics Competition. In addition, numerous students have expressed interest in our School Production, Debating, Public Speaking and Literature groups and our musically talented students have already signed up for their private music lessons as well as being integral members of the College band.
Given the challenges of the previous 12 months with the majority of school weeks in Year 7 being offsite in 2020, we are currently reminding the students to also see school life beyond the four walls of the classroom. Extra-curricular activities are an important avenue towards making new friends and sharing an interest with other like-minded students. The Year 8s are yet to truly grasp the range of teams, competitions, interest groups and leadership roles on offer at the College as they were not able to experience these first-hand when lockdown occurred last year. We eagerly await the boys embracing all that will be on offer to them this year.
