La Salle

Term 1

La Salle's start to the year has been a very busy yet fun one. From our efforts at House Athletics where we came second to our hard work at House Swimming where we unfortunately came ‘furthest from first’. Seeing everyone get involved and having some fun showed the true Lasallian spirit that lives in the house.

The first house competition of the year, House Athletics, was for sure shrouded with excitement and a competitive atmosphere, not out of the ordinary for the La Salle boys. Our seniors had an outstanding performance overall, placing 3rd in a very close final standings, with several students moving on to represent the college in ACC athletics. Xavier Russo proved his Lasallian spirit at ACC athletics, raising his hand to take on the 3000m and in doing so demonstrating the fight and courage shown all throughout House Athletics by the lads.

La Salle’s participation at House Swimming can be described as a gutsy effort from everyone involved. Lions are land animals. Despite the final placings, there were many moments of pure La Salle spirit and outstanding performances, with some mini Phelps’ in the making. The last minute efforts of some to swim championship butterfly or any championship race and even boys stepping up to participate in a 25m event can’t be ignored. Whilst the results didn’t necessarily trouble the scorers, the overall La Salle spirit and participation of both the juniors and seniors should be celebrated.

We have some big events coming up including House Public Speaking and Debating which we are very excited for. We hope that the positive trend continues and all the boys have a solid year and La Salle comes out on top!
