From our Parents' Committee,

Dear Parents,

Great news - restrictions have lifted enough for some PC services and events to return over the coming weeks, provided the current trend holds! We can’t wait to spend time together in person again, have a laugh with friends old and new, and help our school. We are still determining the plans and will communicate more in the near future. All are welcome to have a say in what we do by joining the Parents Committee, and volunteer as little or as much as you like. Even ten minutes or an idea here and there adds up and we’d love to work with you. Membership details are at the foot of the page. (PC Constitution and Registered Member Form)

A word on last year before we move forward. During a taxing time for all, the  Convenors of 2020 stepped up and helped in many ways, working behind the scenes with grace and generosity, and we are grateful to each of them and to Maria Palazon, our lovely Head Convenor. The acts of kindness, warmth, and virtual check-ins helped smooth out many rough days. Thanks also to Mr. Chant for his open door policy, willingness to listen thoughtfully and be responsive to the families’ needs in unchartered circumstances. Together we pulled through.

The first return of PC normalcy, Friday Icy Poles, has been happily welcomed by the kids and we thank the icy pole team, Amy Pate and Rima and Callum Smith for organising this, and the parent volunteers who make it happen each week.

AGM – Save the Date!

You are all invited to the 2021 AGM on Wednesday, 10th March at 7.00pm, upstairs in the staffroom of the office building. More  details on this in the upcoming week, including the process to apply for leadership roles and join project teams. Whatever you’re able to offer will be received gratefully. Meanwhile, here are ways you can help out now.

Class Convenors

This year we only have two classes left in need of Convenors: 1/2C and 3/4C, so if you want to join the company of some great school leaders, let your teacher know. You’ll be completely supported and your child will love having you involved. Thanks in advance!

Icy Poles

Once again, icy poles will be sold for $1 from the junior school from 3.30pm - 3.45pm, and to the TeamKids crowd from 3.45pm. Please have exact change as this limits contact and keeps the line moving!

Next Friday, 5th March, we need four 4F or 4G parents for icy pole duties. It’s quick and easy from 3.30pm - 3.45pm and your kids will get a real kick out of seeing you helping to make their friends smile. If you can help, please let your Convenor know as soon as possible. For 4F, Stephanie Avanzi (Timothy’s Mum) or Talei-Alla-Munikihaafata (Clement’s Mum).

Donations needed for the Second-hand Uniform Stall

Have your children outgrown their uniform over the summer or have items they just don’t wear? Please look through your cupboards and donate unwanted items, in re-sellable condition, washed and dried. Donations will be accepted into the PC Donations Box from Friday 26th February, between 3.30pm and 3.45pm on Mondays, Tuesdays or Fridays.  The PC Donation Box is behind the office building, in the undercover area between the art and music rooms.

Details of the second hand uniform stall will be available in next weeks’ newsletter. Meanwhile, thanks for helping other parents secure some handy uniform bargains, especially after such a difficult year. All monies raised will be directed back to the school for purchases that benefit all CJC kids.

Parents Committee Membership

All new and current members must sign a registration form each year as per DET guidelines.  If you already know you want to help out in the community, thank you so very much. Our children love to see us active in their school and we love to welcome fellow parents who want to be involved; in whatever way they are able... If you have skills or expertise you think could be of help, we are always looking to improve, so let us know. This is about community and continuing to support one another and the school. Please do join and return the form to pcleaders186@gmail.com

We hope to see you very soon,

Lori Silver, Valeria Green, Maria Palazon and Amy Pate,

Your PC Leadership Team
