MODELLED READING

Teacher Review and Reflection Session

This week the teachers reviewed and reflected on their teacher improvement work and learning they have been doing around Modelled Reading. Modelled Reading is when teachers read to students aloud for the purpose of enjoying a story/text, with some explicit teaching around a clear learning intention. The children will then engage in a learning activity in response to the text related to the learning intention. You may have seen your child’s teacher doing this with your child online. This week provided a great opportunity for the teachers to share their own learning journey and to learn from other teachers. This professional dialogue and professional challenge is part of the work we undertake to ensure that we continue to learn and improve what we do as teachers, so that we can deliver the best learning from the Victorian Curriculum for the children at Trinity.

Please do hesitate to ask your child’s teacher how you can support your child with reading at home, especially during remote learning.

Finally, we are very aware of how challenging these times are for all of us. Please reach out if you need any assistance, or if you have any questions or concerns about your child’s wellbeing or learning during remote learning. We are all working through this together so it is important to know how we can help you during this time.
