Welcome back to all our families! Term 4 is always busy and lots of fun and it is great to see all our kids back this week, happy and ready to learn.
Sun Safety
As the weather warms up, hats and water bottles are more important than ever. Please remind your child to pack a labelled hat and water bottle each day.
Year 6 Camp
Our Year 6 students head off to Tangalooma for their camp on the 28 October for 3 days. They will have the opportunity to learn about the environment and history of Moreton Island, as well as engaging in a range of outdoor activities including hiking, kayaking and tobogganing. A note was sent home late last week with details of what to pack for the excursion, so please check with your child if you have not received this.
STEM Week
At the end of last term, all of our students took part in a range of STEM activities facilitated by our Specialist and Support Staff teachers. Students rotated through activities such as bubble blowing, cup tower challenges, Lego marble runs and dancing popcorn! Students were engaged in these fun activities while learning about Science and Technology.
Our Writers are on Fire!
Our students continue to produce outstanding writing throughout the school. This term the writing focus ranges from our Prep students learning how to write a letter to a friend to our Year 6 students creating ‘letters to the future’ where they learn how to use vocabulary and language features to evoke a sense of historical and social context.
Have a look at the excellent writing samples below!
Our year 1 and 2 students wrote narratives last term. The students included author blurbs on the back of their published stories.
Our Year 5 students are learning about language features, such as similes as part of their novel study of New Boy this term. Here are some examples of Simile Posters from our Year 5 students.
Last term our Year 2 students wrote narratives based on the theme, ‘survival’. Here are some students from 2Blue providing feedback to each other to ‘bump up’ their writing from a C to an A.
Have a great week!
