Meet our new Acting
Assistant Principal
Message from Ms Elisha Sadikay
As a teacher, I ask my students to step outside their comfort zone every day to embrace new learning and grow as individuals. Stepping into the role of Acting Assistant Principal for the remainder of the year is an opportunity for me to do the same, and to model the growth mindset and value for lifelong learning that are intrinsically a part of why I choose to work in education.
I love learning – that moment when everything comes together and you think ‘aha… I get it!’ – and I’m motivated by the thought that the decisions we make as teachers, leaders and as a community can help cultivate these moments for every child.
By strengthening our students’ literacy, numeracy, social and emotional awareness, and critical and creative thinking, we can promote independent learners who can confidently navigate the world they move into: a world which may look very different to the one we are teaching them in, given the rapid social and technological change that we see all around us.
As an English teacher, it amazes me to think about how much books and reading have changed in the last thirty years, and to imagine how much more they may change in the next thirty.
As the saying goes, a society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in. We prepare our children for a world that we cannot imagine.
I feel very grateful for the opportunity to learn and to find new ways to be of service in our school, and welcome your contact as parents, carers or members of the community.
