Latest News and Reminders

Out and About.....

This has been a fortnight of postponed events. Brigidine Day has been moved for a second time and we live in hope of it occurring, in an adjusted format, in Term 4. Year 7, 8 and 11 PD days have been listed as a TBC. But in all the ‘loss’ of annual events, we have delighted in seeing our girls enjoy their second Care Packs, parent nights online, enrolment interviews with Grade 5 parents via Meets, the new Projects evolving, tutorials for all girls and preparations for Year 12 celebrations with student opinions and collaboration.

Next week we will run the Year 7-11 PTS Learning Conversations online. All information has been sent to parents. If you are unsure of any aspects of these please phone the office on 9547 5000. The Year 12 conversations were hugely successful earlier in the term, so we hold great hope that these ones will be just as smooth.

The staff continue to collaborate online, be it for curriculum or welfare purposes, staff meetings or for professional learning. Amazingly, we are continuing to prepare for 2021 along the same timeline as usual, just in a different way.

I would also like to welcome two new staff members, who joined us last week. Their introductions to the community are below.

Brigitte Read (Marketing and Promotions)

Originally, I am from South Africa, but I have now lived in Australia for eight years. My grandparents were from Melbourne which allowed me and my husband into this incredible country. I have worked in Marketing for the last ten years – all of which have been in the Education sector. I love working with people and that’s why I love Marketing. I have two children – Ethan who has just turned four and Rose who is eleven months old, they keep me very busy. In my spare time, I run (albeit slowly), work in the garden, do Pilates, watch movies, and generally like to keep busy. My favourite thing to do is to spend time with my family. I love my church, which is a big part of my life.

Zoe Anderson (Careers)

Zoe Anderson joins Killester College as Careers and Pathways Educator. She is an experienced  educator, having obtained an Associate Degree in Classical Ballet Teaching, a double Bachelor’s  Degree in Secondary Teaching/Arts, majoring in Dance, Drama and Theatre Studies, a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and a Graduate Certificate of Career Development. She is currently completing a Master of Educational Studies online at the University of Queensland in Guidance, Counselling and Careers. Zoe is a professional member of the Careers Education Association of Victoria (CEAV) and has experience consulting for the CEAV Year 9 Career Insights Morrisby program at several State Government Schools. She comes to Killester most recently from Strathmore College where she was part of the Careers and Pathways team. In addition to this, Zoe has worked at Marcellin College as Careers Associate, at Star of the Sea College as Acting Leader of Careers, where she taught VCAL Work Related Skills Strand, and at Lowther Hall Anglican Grammar School as a Performing Arts educator where she delivered Certificate II in Dance and was an integral member of the production team. Zoe has many years of experience with VCAA as an Assessor for VCE VET Dance and is the current VCE VET Dance State Reviewer. With extensive experience working in all girls’ schools, she is looking forward to being part of the Killester College community.

Best wishes to everyone for the final two weeks of Term 3. We await news on Sunday regarding what that will look like but, regardless, we have shown that, as a community, we are resilient and capable of achieving anything we set our minds to – regardless of the obstacles or variations.
