Killester Solo Competition

Over 45 students entered this prestigious competition over the past month and it has been my great pleasure to listen to all of our lovely students perform on their instruments and with their voices. Our musicians have continued to work hard across this second lockdown and the progress made has been great to listen to. All of the girls are to be congratulated for presenting themselves for the virtual competition. Music is all about hard work and that hard work has been very evident in the videos I have listened to. As with any competition there will be winners and our finals will be held virtually on Wednesday 16th September and Thursday 17th of September at 7.30pm

The independent adjudicator for the competition finals is Jessica Foot. Jessica completed a Bachelor of Music Performance on oboe at the Victorian College of the Arts, then continued her studies at the Australian National Academy of Music. A keen chamber and orchestral performer, she has performed with Orchestra Victoria, the Sydney Symphony, and the Adelaide, Queensland and West  Australian Symphony Orchestras. Jessica is also a keen fiddle player, performing with Melbourne Scottish Fiddle Club. 

And now the finalists: There are four categories. First ,second and third place will receive a cash voucher for the school canteen as highlighted on the promotional poster in the newsletter.

The Zoom links for these finals will be sent to all competitors a week prior to the event and they can send this invitation to friends and family. It already has been a great success and we wish all the girls the best of luck. This will become an annual event.
