Final Home Learning Snapshot
Term 4, Week 1
Dear parents,
Welcome to our final week of home learning. We are all excited to be heading back to the classroom from week 2 and we're sure you are too!
Please stay tuned to Compass for announcements from Brighton Primary School regarding any new arrangements to protect the health and wellbeing of our community.
We are beginning a focus on traditional tales this week. Students will identify the themes and lessons from popular traditional stories Cinderella, Three Little Pigs and The Boy Who Cried Wolf. A collection of traditional tales for students to access for their reading activities has been assigned on Epic. We will continue to revise first and third person as well as using a story mountain to summarise a story throughout the week.
This week we are focusing on expanding our vocabulary to help with our descriptions in our narratives. Students will use an online thesaurus to find synonyms for common adjectives and create themselves thesaurus pages to refer back to. They will also practise using their new vocabulary in descriptive sentences.
This week in word study students will learn about the second job of silent final e- to stop v and u from being at the end of English words.
In Maths this week we will begin to look at division. The week will start with some pre-assessment activities. It is important that students complete these activities independently so that we can plan for our students' learning progression. The learning intentions for the rest of the week are:
Students will continue to choose activities from the UOI Choice Board to support their inquiry into traditions and cultures.
This week classroom teachers will be scheduling one on one google meets with their students to check in and prepare for the return to school.
