A Little Box of Strength

You got this!

2022 has been like no other! Our young men have faced so many challenges and we’ve been so proud to witness the overall resilience and patience they’ve shown.

Among those that have been most affected are our 2022 cohort of Year 12 students. So many rituals and rites of passage that the boys have looked forward to for years have been missed or changed significantly, and they’ve had to continue studying and working hard to prepare for their assessments and exams, despite illness and interruptions.

This week our Year 12 PCG staff presented the Class of 2022 with hand-made, ‘little boxes of strength.’ Inside each box was a variety of small items, with the idea that each specific item and meaning will offer the boys a little renewed motivation and reminder that they are supported by the entire TC community.

We know the start of the year has been nothing like they’d expected, but we want the boys to be proud of their efforts and the resilience shown over the past six months and know that the TC staff and community are supporting them every step of the way. We hope these boxes made the boys smile and reminded them that they are part of a very special and supportive TC community.

We wish them every success in their exams over the next two weeks. Good luck, you got this!

A big thank you to those parents who have dropped off items for this year’s Ball. These donated items are already going a long way towards this year’s Ball preparation and are very much appreciated.

Please note that new items have been added to our wish list so please continue to review the updated list to see if you can support us with these basic everyday items which can be dropped off at College Admin anytime during the school week.

And just like that, another week has flown by at the College! Term 2 is in full swing, and the Year 11 and 12 boys are in their final study preparations, with exams commencing next week. Good luck to all the boys for their exams, everyone has been working tremendously hard this term, and hope to reap the rewards upon return post exams. I can’t stress to reiterate the 6 Ps enough, courtesy of Mr Craig Adams. Proper preparation prevents [pretty] poor performance.

Week 4 saw our first in-person whole school assembly for the year, with COVID restrictions eased. This assembly was an opportunity to acknowledge the hard work and commitment of various performing arts students including the announcement of our Instrumental Captain Connor Wilson, Choral Captain Darcy Hoye, Drama Captain Zach Neveldsen, Dance Captain Dahmen Weston, and Pipe and Drum Majors Damien Lawrence and Jett O’Rourke. A huge congratulations to these boys, who received fitting recognition for the dedication they have shown to the Performing Arts pillar since Year 7. We were also able to witness some of the outstanding talent the College has to offer, with jazz, percussion, drama and dance performances.

We look forward to what promises to be a challenging match up on Saturday for all winter sport teams against our biggest rivals, Aquinas College. 1st teams will be looking to secure some big wins after only Rugby achieved success against Wesley last weekend, despite some exceptional individual performances. My 1st XI Soccer teammate Casey Robertson has been busy studying Ronaldo highlights, looking to make a significant impact on the scoreboard this game. With the boys fired up and ready to defend our home turf at Waterford this Saturday, I guarantee the TC spirit will be on full display.

This term has proved to be nothing short of hectic and unpredictable, with the College still navigating through the pandemic, as the flies continue to drop (into isolation). Nonetheless, boys are in high spirits and are extremely excited for what lies ahead, particularly the Class of 2022, with preparations for our ball “A Whole New World” well underway, while the Year 11 students are looking forward to their Dinner Dance. Year 11 student Chat Reath said “These twinkle toes are going to come in handy in a few weeks time.

As we carry on with our schooling journey in 2022, it is vital that we continue to show each other the TC brotherhood throughout the year and endeavour to work hard, get involved and soldier on through uncertain times. The culture at the College has been thriving recently and the boys have been showing their support for each other during stressful periods, which has been fantastic to witness. Time and time again, the Trinity community has prevailed, and I do not doubt that we will continue to do so. Keep making the most of this year and keep bleeding the blue and green!
