Sport - Term 2

Inter Girls’ Netball

The Inter Girls’ Netball Team travelled to a fantastic new venue in Diamond Creek this term. They started the day off strongly, winning their first 2 games comfortably. However, in their last 2 games they came up against very strong opposition and unfortunately could not manage a win. This put them 3rd on the ladder at the end of the day which is a fantastic effort and the girls were a credit to the school. Well Done Girls!

Inter Boys’ Footy and Girls’ Footy

The Inter Boys’ Footy team made their way down to our local footy club in Epping. The boys showed great sportsmanship on what was a very wet and windy day but unfortunately could not quite get the wins they were after. What a great day and congratulations to all involved.

Our girls’ footy team led by Mr Biscaro, played their first game against a very strong Hazelglen team and unfortunately struggled to get into the game as they would have liked. They continued to play throughout the cold, wet and windy day showing great resilience and finished 3rd overall.

Inter Girls’ Soccer

The girls travelled over to Painted Hills Reserve in Doreen to play in the Whittlesea Division competition. They were able to watch the opposing teams play each other first so could see their strengths and weaknesses. Their first game was against Hazelglen College with some great goals scored from a range of players and were eventual winners with a big score line of 9-0. They went into the second game against Mill Park Secondary College that proved to be a much tougher game but our teamwork and skill paid off with all goals coming from Rebekah Atanasovski with the hat trick and finishing the game 3-0. The girls will now progress onto the regional round in term 3. Well done girls.

Last week Mr. Prasad and I took the year 9-10 team out to play soccer at Mill Park Secondary.  We won the first 2 games and drew the last game. We only lost to the top team otherwise we would have gone through to the next round.

The boys tried really hard, were respectful and showed a lot of commitment.

Thanks to Mr. Prasad or helping me out and Mrs. Thomas for always supporting the team

BADMINTON

Congratulations to both the Boys’ and Girls’ Intermediate Mighty Duck teams in going through to Region Finals on August 4th.

The Boys’ team led by Jordan, Dylan, Ethan and William, have created an excellent nucleus over the years and have really become the back bone of the Mighty Ducks Squad.  This enabled the team to consolidate solid wins throughout the day and help set them up for a State Finals campaign.  The Girls’ team had close calls all day and were lucky enough with the guidance from Yen and Japmann to fight out several close matches to get over the line.  I’m very proud of what all the Mighty Ducks have achieved as sports people, and even more so when receiving compliments on the day of how nice, helpful and friendly they are. 😊
