AN AWESOME DEMOCRACY BBQ & CAKE STALL

I would like to take a moment to thank our PFA and parents and carers for their efforts associated with the Election Day BBQ and Cake Stall held on 21st May.

The sun was shining, the crowds turned up to vote and visitors to CPS were keen to buy an egg & bacon roll, hamburger or freshly cooked sausage in bread. The generosity of bakers also meant there were many delicious cakes, slices and sweet treats on offer at the cake stall.

All this was possible due to the kindness of our community – time given to baking, setting up, serving on the day and packing up. Thank you to all who assisted, as many hands did make it a splendid team effort. Special thanks to Sandra Rowlands, Sandra Michela, Sian Holm, Jodi Murray-Freedman, Jane Potter and Barry Fleming for leading this event and giving many hours of their time 😊

To top off a true sense of community, Bakers Delight generously donated all the bread for the BBQ and Woolworths Carnegie donated the eggs and bacon.

PAYMENT FOR EXTRA CURRICULA EVENTS

Like all schools, Carnegie Primary School offers a range of activities that enhance or broaden the schooling experience of students that are provided on a user-pays basis. Prior to 2022, Department of Education guidelines allowed parents/carers to pay such costs as a levy at the beginning of the year when class requisites, excursions etc were asked for.

This year, new guidelines mean that this is no longer possible to prepay in the form of a levy and as such we are required to ask families to make such payments for singular events.

Please know that the overall costs for activities such as interschool sport, camps, excursions, incursions, our concert and swimming program are or will be very similar to previous years. The manner of collection does mean far more paperwork/administration for you and us, here in the office. It might seem to be a constant stream of Compass messages that is coming through this year as this is the new method under department protocols. Thank you for your understanding and please ask if you require further clarification.

HALF YEAR STUDENT REPORTS & PARENT TEACHER MEETINGS

All our teachers have commenced working diligently of late, finalising the assessments of all students to produce both comprehensive and easy to understand individual student reports for parents.

Ongoing formal and informal assessment of students is an integral part of our teaching and learning.  All areas of the school have a very strong team focus with children often working with their homeroom teacher but also working with other teachers and Education Support Officers.

Your child as a learner is known by a team of people. CPS staff are passionate about teaching, growing and learning together to be the best they can be individually and collectively support the needs of our students.

Class teachers know your child the best. They are the ones who are writing the core of the semester report and will meet families for three way interviews, currently scheduled for August, 10th 2022. Our specialist teachers will also contribute to the semester reports. A reminder that semester reports will be available to download from Compass on 23rd June, 2022. Please note, that students who commenced at Carnegie PS this term, will not receive a formal report this semester.
