Junior School Report

Junior School Report

It has been a very busy Term 2 with students participating in a number of activities both inside and outside the classroom. It has been especially great to see an increased number of students participating in inter-school sport competitions including cross country, and students enjoying the wide variety of lunchtime clubs that are offered here at the College.

As the end of semester is fast approaching students are well underway in completing their final assessment tasks. It is important that students continue to stay focused in their studies and ensure that they are working to their individual best. There are a number of support services available to those students who may require extra assistance from teachers. We encourage all students to speak to their teacher during class or after class via email, attend homework club which takes place every Tuesday and Thursday, and seek out their year level coordinator if they need some further support.

Year 7 Treetops Excursion

On Friday 27 May, all Year 7 students were provided with an opportunity to attend Treetops Adventure in Belgrave for an afternoon of fun.

This excursion allowed our students to engage in a variety of tree ropes courses which encouraged peer and team building, resilience and interpersonal skills. For many of our students, this was their first visit to the venue and naturally there were some nerves regarding the challenges that they were going to face.

However, it was extremely fantastic to see our students preserve through their nerves and attempt each challenge with such enthusiasm. In the end it was clear that all students thoroughly enjoyed this experience, with many students already planning a return trip in the school holidays.

Here are some highlights from our Year 7 students and teachers who accompanied them on the day:

“My favourite part of the day was the 120- metre zip line across the trees. It was so much fun and it was great to be able to look out across the park.”

Jeremy Matthews

“The giant drop was the best. It was a free fall drop which made it super scary but also fun at the same time.”

Tj Caruana

“It was fantastic to get out of the classroom and watch the students be challenged in a different way.”

Ms Kathleen Shirer
