It has been great to have students back in our classrooms for the full term since 2019! There have been many exciting changes within the Humanities subjects and the way students approach their learning. Below are some highlights from various subjects throughout Semester 1 showcasing the opportunities given to the students of St. John’s.
“Over the past semester in Business Management we have been learning about the steps in planning a successful business and about the internal and external environment. Another part of the course examine the importance of the business idea and the role of innovation. These areas of the course were really interesting because they reminded us of how creativity plays a role in business success. Business Management is a great subject to study specially if you plan to start your own business in the future. I would recommend studying business management to any student who wants to become an accountant or an entrepreneur later on in life. I have found the material we have been studying have been insightful and with a teacher like Mr Samuel extremely enjoyable!!!” – Alana Tran AQ2
“In History we did a presentation on Baby farming. We also did research about Australian history. I enjoyed that World War I propaganda. We also learned about the causes of World War I.”- Isaac Dador AQ3
“On the 30th of March, my geography class went to Melbourne City as part of our tourism unit. Our class arrived at Eureka Tower, as you were able to view the entirety of Melbourne on the 88th floor. After visiting the tower, we then walked to Southbank where we took part in a river cruise on the Yarra. Live commentary from the captain, paired with stunning views of Southbank and Docklands made this part of the excursion very memorable. Afterwards was lunch, where many of the students bought lunch from the food court. After grabbing a bite to eat, we proceeded to go to Flinders Street Station, where we took a train back to Dandenong, and a quick bus ride back to the college. Overall, this excursion was very memorable and enjoyable. Thank you Mr Boswell for the organizing and planning of this wonderful trip!”- Aliah Rigo LE 4
